In 1937, William "Wild Bill" Brune joined the carpenter's union at Local 15 in Hackensack, N.J., working throughout the N.Y.C. and N.J. area. Twenty years later, his two sons Robert & Richard joined their father at Local 15, working on the major bridges in the NJ/NY area. In the late 1950's, weekends at the shore were a chance for the family to rest and relax, however, Bill and his sons found themselves busy building homes in Chadwick Beach and the surrounding beach towns. Their bridge building days quickly evolved into William Brune & Sons Construction. The Brune family has had the opportunity to proudly build quality homes along the New Jersey coastline for over 60 years.
Robert J. Brune served on the Dover Township Committee from 1970 to 1979, serving as the Mayor of Dover Township (now Toms River Township) for three terms. He also served as the Executive Director of the Dover Township Municipal Utilities Authority during the early 1980s. Bob built and remodeled dozens of homes through his Robert Brune Construction business. Bob's son Michael Brune is the Executive Director of The Sierra Club.
Richard L. Brune and his wife Sara Jane worked together as a team developing custom homes, condominiums and office buildings in the shore area for nearly five decades. Richard and his sons have carried on the tradition of building as Richard L. Brune Custom Homes, Brune Builders, Ocean County Handyman and Ocean Home Construction. The fourth generation is already showing up on the job site.
The Brune family and the team here at Ocean Home Construction are from the barrier beach towns of New Jersey, giving us the ability to form relationships with a select number of distinguished design professionals, specialized craftsmen, supply houses, tradesmen and many other construction professionals who each specialize in a blend of traditional New England architecture and modern functionality along the beautiful waterfront in New Jersey.
Each architect or design professional has a different style and personality that we will work to match with yours. We carefully incorporate our homeowner’s goals, ideas, and dreams into the final design while ensuring a functional space that meets state and local code and structural requirements.
The fun begins when a homeowner can start to see how their ideas and personality are translated from paper to the final product.
